The 2008 Festival will be the third international outdoor art exhibition at Guandu Nature Park. The Festival began in 2006 with 6 international artists. It was such a success that the Festival expanded with 12 artists in 2007 and continues with 8 artists in 2008. The Outdoor Sculpture Festival is now an annual event at Guandu Nature Park.
For the 2008 Festival, 8 artists (6 from other countries and 2 from Taiwan) will work at Guandu Nature Park from April 7-20. The artists will create their installations on site using natural materials from the nature park. During the time they are working in the park, each artist will have several local volunteers to help them. It will be a challenge for everyone with so many different languages and cultures represented. The artists will need to quickly get used to a new place and find what they need to make their works. The artists will all be staying at a nearby hotel and coming to work in Guandu Nature Park each day. Several programs are planned for the artists so that they can see Taipei and interact with other artists and art students and park staff and volunteers, as well as visitors to the nature park. The works will all be finished before April 18, and there will be public activities with the artists in the afternoons on April 19 and 20 at Guandu Nature Park. |
